Multilingual

Cheyenne supports multilingual display with catalog files per language.

The position of word or phrase in one language must the position for the language used in the code.

Each application can have a separate set of language files.

They are referenced in the webapp definition of the HTTPD.cfg file in this format

where test-lang directory.

The format for Cheyenne requires the standalone files within each language directory

• %test-lang/catalogs/en/en.cat
• %test-lang/catalogs/fr/fr.cat
• %test-lang/catalogs/es/es.cat

As an aside:

It may be easier to source these in a spreadsheet and use REBOL to export them to this format. This would be easier because:

• each token would be a row with all of the cross language equivalents
• it would be easy to see which ones are missing
• the alignment would be correct

The process is:

1. use a spreadsheet program to manage the translations
2. use the language code as the column heading FR, EN, ES, EN-US,...
3. save the spreadsheet as a CSV format which REBOL can handle.
4. read it using REBOL
5. parse each line and accumulate text by language
6. write one file per column heading

Note:

 Cheyenne can refresh translations  via "reload workers".
